design Miami isn’t just a “marketplace for collectible design” – it’s also a look at next year’s most popular trends. The annual fair opens its doors to everybody from December 2nd to the 6th in a camping tent next to the Miami beach Convention Center. The entrance features an outstanding pavilion made in partnership with students from Harvard’s graduate institution of Design. The roofing system of the structure, understood as the “pink cloud,” is made up of 3-D foam designs of unbuilt, student-designed projects.
Other highlights include 36 worldwide galleries and projects, such as Firma Casa, Brazil’s very first gallery, and a smaller design Curio section with an emphasis on quirky storytelling, which will have its second appearance this year. also new to the fair this year is Design Miami Market, a retail area with house accessories.
